2009 Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How old does my child have to be to play soccer?
4 by July 31st of this year
  2. What the U stand for?
The "U" designator stands for "Under". So if your child is under 8 years old (in other words 6 or 7) he/she would be placed in the U8 Division
  3. Where do they practice?
    Depends on the coach.
  4. Where do they play?
All of our games are held at the fields behind Panorama Elem. and Pine View Middle school. The address is 301 N. 2200 E. St. George
  5. How long is the season?
Our season is 8 weeks long. Beginning in September and ending in Early November. We do not play UEA Weekend.
  6. When do we play?
All of our games are on Saturdays
  7. What do I need to buy?
Shin guards, soccer cleats, and a ball for practice. The league provides shorts, jersey, and socks. NOTE: Soccer cleats are not required, however, shin guards are required and MUST be worn during all practices and games!
  8. How many play on a team?
We play small sided games beginning with 4 on a team for U5
  9. My uniform was too big last year, what can I do?
Uniforms are ordered in bulk by age not size. You own the uniform so alter it the best you can.
  10. Where does AYSO get all of the great volunteers?
From You! We are all volunteers. AYSO national bylaws do not allow for paid administrators, coaches, and referees. A volunteer is someone who believes that people make a difference and is willing to prove it. Volunteers strengthen AYSO by giving their time and energy, their ideas and ideals. Many of our coaches and referees have played very little soccer if any at all. If parents will volunteer, the AYSO program provides training and resources to help them and their children to have a memorable experience.

  11. Who will be responsible for refereeing games?
Since AYSO is an all volunteer organization, we pride ourselves on having parents and other volunteers referee the games. So that we have an adequate number of referees, we will require that each team in the U8 division and up supply one parent that can participate as referee. In addition we welcome any player (10 years and older) to join our team of referees. Parent Referees will be scheduled so they do not have to referee their children’s games. The coaches of the U6 games will referee their own games.
